Bring - PUDO delivery in Sweden
What does pick up and drop off (PUDO) mean?
Alternative Pick Up and Drop Off, often shortened to PUDO, is a designated location where end consumers can come to collect parcels, and drop off items. Typical drop off and collection sites include lockers accessible by PIN codes, as well as local stores and retailers.
Changes Brought by Bring PUDO Delivery in Sweden:
- Designated Pick-Up Points: Parcels will redirect to specific pick-up locations instead of being delivered to the consumer's home address. Bring will assign a particular pick-up point for each parcel based on the consumer's home address zip code and street name.
- Customer Notifications: Consumers will receive details about their assigned pick-up point through email, SMS notifications and Bring app. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you provide the consumer's email and phone number when placing an order to ensure timely receipt of information from Bring. To keep your customers well-informed about their parcel status and pick-up location, encourage them to manually enter their tracking number. They can easily track their parcels using the Bring app. This approach allows them to stay updated and tailor their delivery preferences effectively.
- Option for Home Delivery: Unfortunately, Bring disabled the option for customers to switch from PUDO to home delivery via their app. Bring are working on improvements and aim to restore this feature soon.
- Parcel Collection: Consumers can collect their parcels by presenting a notification/pickup code and a valid ID or using a QR code from the Bring app or web interface. Another person may collect the parcel using the QR code or by presenting both their own and the recipient's ID.
- Uncollected Parcels: if the parcel is not collected within 7 days, it will be returned to vidaXL.
Why redirect to PUDO?
By sending packages to a wide network of locations, carrier are able to batch numerous orders together, drop items off faster, and store them safely until collection. The meaning for consumers is lower average wait times than if orders were sent directly to the door. It also means that people can collect or drop off packages at convenient places already on their daily commute, near their home, while going to school, or even when doing their weekly grocery shopping.
Another advantage is that packages aren’t left outside, where the elements may damage the contents, or other people may take them without permission. Consequently, the alternative collection and drop off model offers consumers a balance between speed and peace of mind.
